Duan Hongsheng, also known as Shi Bao Mountain Man, online alias Yi Hai Xun Ya, was born in Dengta Village, Shaxi Town, Jianchuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, in July 1966. He is a farmer writer and farmer painter.

In 1986, he studied at the Dali Branch of the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University, majoring in Chinese painting, specializing in landscape and bird-and-flower painting. He apprenticed under renowned Bai ethnic painters from Dali: Yang Deju (member of the China Artists Association), Xie Changxin, Xin Heng, and He Peizhen (member of the Yunnan Artists Association). He began learning traditional Chinese painting at age 20. In 1986, he started collecting and organizing Bai ethnic folk literature; his works were included in the series "Chinese Ethnic Minority Stories" (Bai Volume). In 1995, he held a personal art exhibition in the ancient town of Shaxi, Yunnan.

Published Works

2011 Published his personal anthology of poetry, calligraphy, painting, and photography, titled "Source Collection."
2014 His ethnographic monograph "Entering Shaxi Ancient Town" was officially published by Yunnan Nationalities Publishing House. "Entering Shaxi Ancient Town" is archived in the National Library of China and the Yunnan Provincial Library, and was featured in special reports by China.com and the Dali Daily.

Personal Honors

2017 Participated in the 17th National "Lushan Cup" Calligraphy and Painting Competition; his ink painting won the Silver Award;同年被吸收为中国书画家协会会员，中国书画润格评定中心评定为国家级一级美术师，作品润格专家评估市场价每平方尺为1500元至 3000 元人民币。
2018 His work was selected for the Outstanding Award in the First National Fine Arts Competition organized by China Art Talent Network; participated in the inaugural "Guocui Cup" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition and won the Outstanding Award.
2018 Admitted as a member of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture Writers Association.
2019 Participated in the 7th National "Dream Cup" Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Competition celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the Realization of the Chinese Dream; his work won the Gold Award and was honored with the title "Outstanding Artist of the Chinese Dream in Calligraphy and Painting."
2019 Participated in the First National Exhibition of Contemporary Ink Masters Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and won the First Prize.
2019 Won the Third Prize in the China Good Brand Influence Art Figure Selection Activity and was awarded the title "Person of Brand Art Influence."
