Author's Preface:
In the past, I had many words—too many words, until one day I finally realized that most of what I said were meaningless nonsense, empty talk, and falsehoods. So I picked up my childhood dream, preparing to use painting to speak simple, truthful words. Although I studied culinary arts, after entering the workforce, I abandoned my major and returned to the brush to express my inner voice.Later, I produced many paintings—so many paintings. Then came the events: my works were selected for exhibitions, won awards, received interviews and media coverage, collected by friends, and published in journals and albums—numerous achievements.Listing them might fill two or three pages, but my forward steps tell me none of these matter.“Dipping the brush in emotion, blending ink and wash; I use colorful brushes to summon the spring wind.”On my journey exploring art, my steps feel so light.I suddenly understood: black is white, white is not different from black; within ink and wash lies great completeness. I paint, and I walk! In life, I have experienced three things: One: Paint, and learn humbly. Two: Paint, and reflect deeply. Three: Paint, and be joyful. I love painting Chinese ink art, and I especially adore painting bamboo—its slender leaves, sparse joints, and its spirit of standing tall and upright, with an open and honest heart; I also love painting the pure, ice-clear lotus leaves in ponds, whose spirit of emerging from mud untainted and washed clean without pretense deeply moves me; I also love painting eagles soaring with outstretched wings, learning from their tenacity and fearless determination in facing ruggedness and hardship... The creation of Chinese ink painting offers boundless imaginative space, and its essence is a form of cultivation. This has deeply drawn me to Chinese ink painting, especially expressive brushwork. Chinese ink painting not only brings boundless joy to body and mind, but more importantly, through its artistic conception, it touches the soul... A Chinese ink painter must undergo decades of rigorous training to reach a state of perfection, merging one's inner感悟 with the essence of nature—that is the union of spirit and object.
