Personal Profile

Tang Changxi, male, is a member of the Shanghai Branch of the China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. Born in 1979 beside the Li River—Guilin. He has loved painting since childhood and received guidance from his uncle, Tang Xiaoming (a renowned painter), which laid a solid foundation and set him on the right path. Since 1996, he has focused primarily on traditional Chinese ink landscape painting and later graduated from the Ink Painting Department of Guangxi Normal University. He now benefits from the substantial guidance of Master Yu Hai, "the Son of the Earth," and his artistic skills and style are evolving toward new horizons! His works are drawn from life, reflecting various aspects of real-life experiences and conveying positive, uplifting, and unifying energy. They have attracted attention and been collected by numerous art enthusiasts. The artist consistently engages in plein air sketching and extensively copies works by modern masters, gaining profound insights through these practices; combined with diligent practice, his recent works have reached an even higher level!! In 2013, his work "Spring Mountain Fishing Delights" won the Gold Award at the First China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy "Jinshan Cup" National Painting and Calligraphy Competition. In 2014, images of his works were issued as covers for postage stamps, telephone cards by China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Post. Since then, he has continued to practice and refine his art amid the mountains of Longsheng in Guilin. In 2016, he established his own studio, during which time he has taught hundreds of students and achieved commendable results. The artist excels in expressive ink landscapes, skillfully blending ink and color, meticulous and freehand techniques, elegance and popular appeal. He has boldly explored spatial structure and tonal ambiance, forming landscape compositions with a distinct contemporary character. Drawing upon traditional brushwork methods while absorbing diverse influences, he pursues artistic excellence with unwavering dedication. His works exude grandeur and vigor, perfectly capturing both form and spirit, leaving a powerful visual impression.
