Artistic Biography: Wang Rongping, pen name Guang Yi, is from Xiao Wangjiazhuang Village, Nanzheng Township, Pingyao County, Shanxi Province. He has loved calligraphy and painting since childhood and has conducted extensive research on various script styles, particularly excelling in Ouyang style, clerical script, and small seal script. He also possesses profound expertise in both traditional Chinese painting and oil painting. Over more than 20 years of teaching, he has accumulated valuable experience and trained over 300 outstanding students, many of whom have entered art academies for further studies, while others have joined society and begun contributing their talents to the nation. Over the years, he has participated in numerous national calligraphy and painting competitions, winning various awards, and his diligent pursuit of art has finally been rewarded.
In 2016, at the "Yi Zhi Cup" poetry, calligraphy, and painting competition in Beijing, his small seal script piece of Chairman Mao's poem "The Long March" won second prize. He also received the "National Elite Person Award" and trophy. His works have been reprinted and published multiple times in national exhibitions. In October, at the calligraphy competition held by Beijing Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, his small seal script work of Liu Yuxi's "Ode to a Humble Abode" won the Outstanding Creation Award, and the piece was permanently collected by the China Calligraphers Association, China Artists Association, and China Poetry Society. At the first "Lanting Cup" new talent and new works competition in Shanxi, he won an excellence award. In 2018, at the national poetry, calligraphy, and painting competition, his clerical script piece of Chairman Mao's "Qinyuanchun·Snow" won first prize. That same year, China Fine Arts Publishing House published his personal collection of paintings and calligraphy, as well as a book titled "The Belt and Road: Masters of Art on the New Silk Road," co-authored with other renowned figures across China.
