Wang Shihai, male, Han nationality, university-educated, native of Hainan, styled Baxian, pen name Fahai. Member of the Chinese Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association (national-level calligrapher), academician of the Beijing Renhe Academy of Calligraphy and Painting. Member of the Chinese Artists Association. Awarded the Excellent Prize in the "2016 First National Online Calligraphy Art Competition Final" hosted by the Chinese Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association (co-organized by three official institutions, promoted by 14 renowned calligraphy self-media platforms, with 3 million calligraphy enthusiasts interacting; 74,852 participants selected for the preliminary round, 8,260 advancing to the final round, subject to dual expert evaluation). His calligraphy works have been collected by the Hainan Provincial Library, enhancing its collection, as well as by the Shenyang September 18th Historical Museum, a national first-class museum named by former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, which has also issued a certificate of collection. (The China National Cultural Relics Administration has selected the Palace Museum, the National Museum of China, the Shenyang September 18th Historical Museum, among others, as national first-class museums.)
In 2015, served as a calligraphy instructor for World Cultural Heritage Day, participating in the "Copying Literary Classics, Remembering Chinese Characters" event organized by the National Ancient Books Protection Center, the Chinese Association for Ancient Books Protection, the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publication and Sports, the Hainan Provincial Library (Hainan Provincial Center for Ancient Books Protection), the Hainan Provincial Library Association, and other institutions.
In March 2019, the Hainan Daily announced: A grand calligraphy exhibition by the renowned calligrapher Wang Shihai was held at the Meilan District Library and Cultural Center in Haikou City, Hainan Province!
Formerly worked in advertising, design, and journalism for the Hainan Economic Daily. In 2004, founded the Jiyi Computer Training Center, the China Wang Shihai Calligraphy Studio, and the China Wang Family Calligraphy Training Website. Studied under renowned calligraphers such as Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi (the Two Wangs), Ouyang Xun, Zhao Mengfu, Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Zhi Yong, Huaisu, Shi Weize, Deng Shiru, Wu Changshuo, and modern masters Yu Youren and Qi Gong. Proficient in five script styles: seal, clerical, regular, running, and cursive script. With profound calligraphic foundations and exceptional skills, his brushwork is fluid and expansive, rich in connotation, with tightly structured yet natural forms, diverse in expression, combining solemnity with elegance, and grace with vigor. A distinguished calligrapher and educator of the orthodox tradition, skilled in both soft and hard pen techniques, known as the "Prince of Cursive Script" and "One Brush of the South Sea," as well as a master calligrapher.
