Yu Jian, styled Da Jian, is from Xinchang County, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. He is a council member of the Friends of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, a specially appointed professor at Hangzhou Normal University, president of Qiantang Painting Academy of Hangzhou, and a member of the Chinese Artists Association. Born into a family of traditional Chinese medicine, he studied under the former Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art) during his youth, apprenticing with Mr. Li Zhenjian and Mr. Jiang Baolin, among others. He excels in landscape painting, figure painting, flower-and-bird painting, and calligraphy creation. He has been invited to participate in touring exhibitions in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe, Japan; as well as in thematic academic art exhibitions organized by institutions such as the Zhejiang Art Museum, Quzhou Municipal Museum, and Tongxiang Municipal Museum. Some of his works have been collected by organizations including the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPPCC and the Higher People's Court of Zhejiang Province, as well as by notable figures from countries such as the United States, Canada, Singapore, and India.
