Jiang Zhenfan
Personal Profile
Jiang ZhenFan, also known as Jiang Han, male, Han ethnicity, born in 1942, from Huxian, Shaanxi Province. A contemporary renowned calligrapher, a national gift artist,a national first-class calligrapher, and one of China's top 100 outstanding contemporary artists.

Devoted to calligraphy and painting throughout his life, he specializes in calligraphy and seal carving, with proficiency in regular, cursive, seal, and clerical scripts. Upon close examination of Mr. Jiang Zhenfan’s calligraphy, his brushwork flows gracefully without any hint of heaviness; the movement of the brush resembles a carp gliding through water, undulating with elegance and fluidity! Moreover, the entire compositional momentum is infused with profound artistic subtleties—whether in the speed or pause of strokes, or in the variation of ink density and dryness-wetness, all rhythmic changes are dictated by emotion and spontaneity, devoid of any artificial rigidity. In ink application, he masterfully conveys sentiment within rich darkness and expresses sincerity within subtle lightness; the interplay of dense and light ink tones generates a dynamic balance, where emptiness and substance mutually give rise to each other. Such striking contrasts adhere to classical traditions while preserving personal innovation. In structuring running-cursive characters, he adapts each stroke according to the character’s form—for instance, applying a pause after a left-falling stroke and a flick after a right-falling stroke. The overall composition likewise follows this principle: vertically, the work exhibits seamless transitions; horizontally, it maintains structural integrity. It alternates between stability and openness, with every stroke and character seamlessly connected or deliberately broken, as if crafted by divine hands, harmoniously natural!
