Jiang Jianmin serves as a cultural instructor at Fuan Road Community in Xianyang City. In 1999, he founded the Chenyang Calligraphy and Painting Training Class, diligently nurturing students for over two decades with outstanding results. Jiang has developed a flexible teaching method and an innovative approach to practicing calligraphy: he demonstrates characters starting from basic strokes, giving each stroke vivid, imaginative names based on their characteristics—dots are like eyes that must be spirited; horizontal and vertical strokes form a stable framework;撇 (left-falling) and 捺 (right-falling) strokes should be graceful and flowing; curved hooks and twists must be lively and agile; returning or resting strokes reveal expression; the length of horizontal strokes depends on context above and below; vertical strokes with downward needles determine stability; left-falling strokes vary in curvature and complement right-falling strokes; curved hooks must be appropriately sized.
Under the devoted guidance of Teacher Jiang Jianmin, a large number of young calligraphy talents have emerged. More than 300 of his students have received medals, plaques, and certificates of honor in national, Shaanxi Provincial, and Xianyang City-level calligraphy and painting competitions. Teacher Jiang has also received multiple “Outstanding Gardener Award” and “Outstanding Organization Award” honors.
