Personal Profile
Xue Dong, originally named Huang Xudong, was born in Shanghai in 1954.
In 1971, he became a student of the master of Chinese painting, Mr. Li Bangding.
In 1974, he became a student of the master of Chinese calligraphy, Mr. Wang Kuangpeng.
In 1983, he participated in the National Youth Painting Exhibition and won an award; later, he received guidance from masters such as Li Ke Ran, Wang Xuetao, Wang Geyi, and Qian Xingjian, which helped him develop his current style of painting.
In 2017, he held an individual painting exhibition at the Jinzhou Museum and two of his works were collected by the museum.
He is currently the President of the Red Art and Calligraphy Research Institute of Gutian, Fujian.
He serves as an advisor for the WeChat magazine of the Jiangnan Poetry and Painting Art Academy and has his own special edition of paintings displayed.
In November 2017, he became a guest artist of the China Painting and Calligraphy Website in Sydney, Australia。
