 Teng Fei, as early as the 1950s, won first prize in the Shanghai Children’s Painting Competition and received multiple awards at children’s art exhibitions in Eastern European countries. In the 1960s, he participated in the Shanghai Workers’ Painting Competition and won second prize. His artworks, including illustrations and woodcuts, were published in Shanghai newspapers and periodicals. In the 1970s, he associated with renowned artists such as Yan Wenliang, Liu Haisu, Tang Yun, Zhu Qizhan, Lu Yanshao, and Zhang Dazhuang, and exchanged painting techniques with young artists at the Shanghai Academy of Painting, including Yan Guoji. He explored sketching, oil painting, watercolor, woodcut, and traditional Chinese painting. In the 1980s, he transitioned into the news and media industry, founding a nationally distributed, ministry-level science and technology periodical via China Post. Later, he was appointed Director of the Book Editorial Office at Guangming Daily’s Software Publishing Department. In the late 1990s, he immigrated to Australia and engaged in Chinese-language media. In 2015, he founded the Australia-China Calligraphy and Painting Art Exchange Association and served as its inaugural chairman. His works have been selected for major national calligraphy and painting exhibitions held in Beijing, China. He has been officially recognized as a National First-Class Artist in China. Teng Fei is also a member of the Victorian Artists Society (a mainstream Western art organization in Australia with over a century of history), frequently participating in Western art exhibitions and creative activities. He has become an active promoter of Chinese cultural and artistic heritage within Australian society, bridging journalism and fine arts. His works are collected by individuals from various sectors and possess significant appreciation potential.
