         Ma Butang, also known as Xianyun, is a native of Shanghai, with ancestral roots in Yingshang, Anhui. He has been passionately devoted to painting and calligraphy since childhood, inheriting the family tradition. He has long immersed himself in the study of painting and calligraphy, and is a professional judge for regular script and running script at the Modern Chinese Master Calligraphers and Painters Association. He is also the Director of Art at the Sotheby's Cultural and Art Development Center. He is involved in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals City Culture Olympic, and serves as a Deputy Chairman of the World Chinese Masters Calligraphy and Painting Professional Committee.
      Since childhood, he has been deeply interested in the art of painting and calligraphy, inheriting the family tradition. He has meticulously studied the works of various schools of calligraphy and painting, persistently and tirelessly. He is known as Shanghai Xianyun Pavilion.
Xianyun Pavilion takes the promotion, revitalization, and prosperity of contemporary Hai School art as its mission; aims to enhance the market value of Hai School artists, as well as the cultural and artistic value of Hai School artworks; and is committed to popularizing painting and calligraphy knowledge and spreading historical resonance. It strives to unite, cultivate, and promote Hai School artists, providing them with creative space to realize their personal value and the market value of their artworks. It endeavors to build a new painting and calligraphy industry chain mechanism, enabling Hai School art to reach across the country and around the world. It is working to create art exhibition halls, artist creation bases, and other platforms for the display and trading of painting and calligraphy artworks. It aims to form an artistic synergy to promote creation, achieve leapfrog development in cultural business, generate agglomeration effects, continuously expand and enhance the influence and radiation power of Hai School culture.
 In November 2017, he became a guest artist of the China Painting and Calligraphy Network in Sydney, Australia.
