Gao Jianlin, also known as Gao Lin, with the dharma name Rujian, the master of Nantang Pavilion, is from Shanghai. He is currently a national first-class art professional, member of the Chinese Association of Arts and Crafts, member of the China Artists Association, member of the China Shuimo Danqing Painting Academy, member of the Committee for the New Artistic Groups of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, member of the Chinese Couplets Association, senior art consultant of the People's Art Publishing House, national-level calligrapher, and has obtained the "National Vocational Qualification Certificate for Calligraphers" issued by the former Ministry of Culture of China. Shanghai influential calligrapher and painter, and was awarded the honor of "Top 100 Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Figures in China with Influence". His works have been frequently selected for large-scale exhibitions at home and abroad and have won awards both domestically and internationally.
Gao Lin's ancestors include Gao Er Yan, an imperial scholar in the 13th year of Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty. Later, he was recommended by Li Ruolin to serve in the Qing Dynasty, holding the position of Minister of Personnel and Grand Secretary. He was a famous honest official during the Shunzhi era, with remarkable achievements in calligraphy and poetry. As the tenth-generation descendant of the Gao family's calligraphy tradition, Gao Lin not only inherited the artistic essence and calligraphic style of Grand Secretary Gao, but also studied under the master of Chinese painting Wu Hufan, and deeply studied the "Four Great Masters of the Yuan Dynasty" and the "Four Wangs of the Qing Dynasty", drawing on the strengths of many schools, and thus grasped the principle of the unity of painting and calligraphy. The Gao family has produced many masters in the fields of calligraphy and painting, including the contemporary renowned calligrapher Gao Shi'xiong. Mr. Gao Lin is of the same clan but different branch, and is regarded by his peers as the "Two Gao" of the Shanghai calligraphy scene.
