Chen Zhirui, male, Han ethnicity, born in April 1963, is from Linhe, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and works at the Bayannur Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is a National First-Class Artist (calligraphy), a member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphers Association, Vice President of the Artists Committee of the China Poetry-Calligraphy-Painting Network, a member of the China National Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, a member of the China Couplet Society’s Calligraphy Art Research Institute, an Executive Director of the Dongpo Painting and Calligraphy Art Research Institute, a Council Member of Wu Daozi Art Gallery and the China Painting and Calligraphy Artists Creation Center, an Academician of Beijing Liuyi Painting and Calligraphy Academy, a member of the Bayannur Calligraphers Association, an academician of the Bayannur CPPCC Painting and Calligraphy Academy, and a contracted artist with China Influence Network and China Painting and Calligraphy Network Television.
He has loved calligraphy since childhood, especially Yan-style regular script, running script, and cursive script. He has won first prizes in multiple competitions such as the "Xizhi Cup" and "Langya Cup" organized by the Foreign Exchange Committee of the China Hard Pen Calligraphers Association and the National Annual Creation Conference for Poets, Calligraphers, and Painters; an excellence award in the First Wang Xizhi National Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition hosted by the Hanlin Painting and Calligraphy Academy; first prize in the 2016 and 2017 China Painting and Calligraphy Top 500 contests, special prize in the 2018 China Painting and Calligraphy Top 500 contest, and was named "Influential Calligraphy Master of the Year" and "Calligraphy Master with Highest Collection Value" in 2016, 2017, and 2018 by the China National Academy of Painting and Calligraphy and China Influence Network. He received second prize in the calligraphy category of the 12th National Tengwang Pavilion Cup Literary and Art Grand Prix hosted by the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, silver award at the 11th China Seniors’ Day Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition co-hosted by "Calligraphy Newspaper" and others, and gold award at the 13th China Seniors’ Day Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition. In 2019, he won the special prize in the "Compendium of Fine Arts and Literature in Contemporary China," hosted by the Compendium of Fine Arts and Literature in Contemporary China and Beijing Century Baijia International Cultural Development Center. He also received multiple awards including the special prize at the "Summit of Writers and Artists Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China" hosted by the China Poetry-Calligraphy-Painting Network and China Prose Network. His calligraphy works have been included in dozens of publications such as "Biographical Dictionary of Representative Works of Famous Literary and Artistic Figures in Contemporary China," "Proceedings of the 2016 National Annual Creation Conference for Poets, Calligraphers, and Painters," "Tengwang Pavilion Cup Anthology," and "Directory of Contemporary Calligraphers" (compiled and published by Calligraphy Newspaper: Calligraphy World) (2017 and 2018 editions). His biography has been included in publications such as "2017 Chinese Cultural and Artistic Figures Yearbook," "Dictionary of Leading Figures in Contemporary Chinese Arts," "Yearbook of Masters and Masterpieces in Contemporary Chinese Arts," and "Great Compendium of Achievements in Chinese Arts," all published by China Culture Publishing House. His calligraphy works have been featured in professional journals such as "Calligraphy Newspaper: Calligraphy World," "Xizhi Calligraphy and Painting News," and "Painting and Calligraphy Market News." In June 2018, his work was selected for exhibition among outstanding members' works of the China Hard Pen Calligraphers Association. The People's Daily multimedia platform's Cultural and Livelihood Weekly respectively conducted special features under the title "Chen Zhirui: Vigorous Brushwork, Moving Artistic Expression"; on December 7, 2020, the Xinhua News Agency mobile client's "Soul of the Nation – Cultural Arts" column premiered 30 artworks, achieving nearly one million clicks within the first month. "Art Gallery" column of "Calligraphy Newspaper: Calligraphy and Painting World" recommended his works multiple times consecutively in 2020, and he was specially recommended by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CPPCC as a calligrapher.
