Chen Zhongliang, born in 1951, is a professional painter and a member of the Hunan Provincial Artists Association.
In 1999, his ink painting "Clear Wind" won the second prize at the National Art Association's exhibition commemorating the 2550th anniversary of Confucius.
In 2000, his ink painting "Furong Country" won the excellent award at the Hunan Province Secretarial Workers' Painting and Calligraphy Competition.
In 2004, his ink painting "Desireless" won the second prize at the National Transportation Painting and Calligraphy Competition.
In 2007, his ink painting "Dongting Spring" won the second prize at the "Dongting Cup" National Senior Painting and Calligraphy Competition on Environmental Awareness and Love for Famous Lakes.
In 2008, his ink painting "Chasing the Sun" won the third prize at the National Senior Painting and Calligraphy Competition celebrating the Olympics and the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, and was included in the anthology "Love in Ink—Selected Masterpieces of National Realist Middle-aged and Senior Painters and Calligraphers."
In 2008, his ink painting "Grapes" was exhibited in the "3rd Canada Chinese Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Exhibition," displayed at Peking University and Vancouver.
In 2014, his ink painting "Dongting Spring" won the Achievement Award at the "7th National Exhibition of Famous Bird-and-Flower Painters."
Published collections include "Chen Zhongliang Art Collection (Bird-and-Flower Volume)."
Artwork Appreciation
On the Artron website, the auction price for works created before 2014 was approximately 700 yuan per square foot, with a success rate of 83%. In April 2015, a 4-foot vertical scroll titled "Peacock" sold for 18,200 yuan at Zhejiang Guopai, equivalent to nearly 2,300 yuan per square foot—more than three times the earlier price, indicating rapid appreciation.
