Xia Dongyou

Xia Dongyou, male, styled Dongfangju, with the studio name Nanshanxiating, is from Zixing City, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. He is a contemporary middle-aged rural painter and a member of the Zixing City Calligraphy and Painting Association. In 2019, he participated in Renmei University online training to study Chinese painting, focusing on Chinese landscape and bird-and-flower painting. He won the second prize in the first Zixing City Disabled Talent Competition in 2019, and has achieved good results in national calligraphy and painting competitions that year. He has walked through fifty springs and autumns of life. Although he became disabled due to childhood illness, he has always been deeply interested in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, which is his lifelong pursuit goal.
