Xu Junbiao, styled Yi Shan and also known as Longxi Studio, is from Yongzhou, Hunan Province. He is a member of the Communist Party of China, a member of the Chinese Couplets Association, a member of the Hunan Provincial Calligraphy Association, an artist contracted by Artron Art Network, and co-founder of the Inkstone Script Teaching Hall. His calligraphy works have won awards or been exhibited in national and provincial calligraphy competitions a total of twenty-five times. He has learned calligraphy under mentors such as Cui Hanbai, Ma Yubao, Zhang Hui, and Ou Liang. For over a decade, he has practiced calligraphy every day without fail. He initially studied Yan Zhenqing and Chu Sui Liang for his regular script, then delved into Northern Wei steles and inscriptions. For his running script, he particularly enjoys Mi Yuanzhang, Dong Xuanzhai, and the Wang family scrolls. In recent years, he has mainly focused on studying the Han dynasty clerical scripts, especially appreciating their rugged and eccentric charm. His calligraphy works are powerful in brushwork, with a full and beautiful structure, making him one of the most promising young calligraphers of contemporary times.
