Personal Profile

Qian Dehua was born in the 1960s in Hunan.
In July 1984, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Fine Arts Department of Hunan Normal University, majoring in Chinese painting. He is currently a member of the Guangdong Artists Association.

In 1990, he moved to Zhongshan City, Guangdong, to engage in painting creation and art education. He frequently participated in provincial, municipal, and Hong Kong-Macau touring exhibitions; his works were twice selected as exchange gifts between the municipal government and the mayor of Osakamichi, Japan.

In 1999, he became a member of the Guangdong Artists Association.

In 2000, he relocated to the United States.

In September 2002, he held his first solo exhibition in the United States at the Concord Art Gallery in Flushing, New York.
That same year, he won the top prize, "Best Creativity Award," at the "Art Promotes World Peace Grand Prize" hosted by Houston University. The award was presented personally by the Mayor of Houston, and he delivered a speech on behalf of all winners at the conference.

In August 2013, he held his second solo exhibition at the 456 Gallery in Manhattan.
Through studying and researching oil painting, he integrated elements of oil painting into his Chinese painting creations, endowing his works with a sense of sunlight, three-dimensionality, and richer, more delicate layers.

In September 2014, he held his third solo exhibition at the First Bank Art Gallery in Flushing, New York. The exhibited works were primarily ink wash paintings, supplemented by some small-scale creations.

In June 2019, he participated in the Guangzhou International Art Fair. His works retained their signature style of three-dimensionality, sunlight, and delicacy, while the content, form, technique, and artistic expression became even richer and more refined. The visual effect became fresher, more ethereal, yet profound and ancient in spirit.
