He Shuchun — styled Chunshui, born in March 1953 in Dunhua City, Jilin Province, has been passionate about art since childhood. Starting in 1972, he self-studied sketching and ink painting, achieving notable progress. In 1985, he received authentic instruction in knife painting from Master Song Wanqing, the founder of Dunhua knife painting. Since 2009, he has studied knife painting under Master Wang Junhai. Since 2011, he has served as Vice Director and instructor of the study class at Dunhua’s “Yiyun Chun Painting Garden”; as a teacher at Tsinghua Knife Painting School in Yanji City; and since 2018, he has held the position of Director of Research, Training, and Curriculum Development at the Innovative Knife Painting Research Institute. He is a member of the Jilin Province Arts and Crafts Association; a member of the Dunhua City Arts and Crafts Association; and a standing council member of the China Knife Painting Hometown, Dunhua Knife Painting Association.
During this period, he created numerous works, with representative pieces including “Autumn,” “Winter,” “Snow,” “Plum Blossoms,” and “High Mountains and Flowing Water.” His artistic skills and the quality of his works have continuously improved, and his artworks have been sold in major cities both domestically and internationally.
