Personal Profile
Liu Chunshan (Shan), courtesy name Pin Yi, son Li, male, born in January 1948. Graduated from junior college, member of the Communist Party of China, retired cadre. Currently a National Level One Calligrapher. Member of the Liaoyuan City and Changchun City Calligraphers Association, Jilin Province; Member of the China Senior Art Research Society; Member of the Jilin Province Calligraphers Association; Member of the Jilin Provincial Senior Art Research Society; Deputy Secretary-General of the Liaoyuan City Retired Cadre (Senior) Art Research Society; Vice President of the Jilin Five Storage Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Liu Chunshan is multi-talented with profound cultural literacy. He has interests in calligraphy, painting, poetry, and the appreciation and collection of antiques and ancient artworks. His literary works have won gold awards in national competitions. He is deeply passionate about calligraphy and painting art, and has studied under masters at county, city, provincial, and national levels during his spare time. He has extensively practiced and studied the calligraphic styles of Yan Zhenqing, Wang Xizhi, Zhao Mengfu, Mi Fu, Su Dongpo, and Mao Zedong. Through persistent practice and creation, he has developed his own distinctive calligraphic style.
Mr. Liu’s calligraphic foundation is solid and profound. His regular script, running script, semi-cursive script, and clerical script are all outstanding, especially his running-cursive script, which skillfully blends strength and grace, flows freely, exudes vigor and elegance. Since the 1990s, his calligraphy works have frequently won first, second, and third prizes at county, city, and provincial levels, and have been selected multiple times in national specialized calligraphy exhibitions. In 2019 and 2020, he won gold awards in the 7th and 8th National "China Dream Cup Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Competition," and was honored with the title of "Outstanding Artist for Realizing the Chinese Dream of Calligraphy and Painting."
In recent years, Mr. Liu Chunshan's (Shan) calligraphy works have been increasingly recognized, pursued, and collected by domestic and international calligraphy and painting enthusiasts.
