Personal Profile

Meng Xiaohan, male, Han ethnicity. Former names: Meng Zhaoxi, Zhaoxi. Pen name: Tides; Art names: Master of Bingyu Studio, Mad Ink Lover, Cloud Crane Mountain Dweller. Born in 1956, member of the Communist Party of China, holding a postgraduate degree. Former civil servant (retired), originally from Yushu, Jilin Province, currently residing in Zhuhai City. Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about calligraphy and painting, especially favoring ink wash freehand style. He has persistently pursued self-study for decades, traveling extensively to study ancient steles and rubbings, seeking guidance from renowned masters, and never ceasing his diligent practice. He has graduated (completed) from the Research Class of Wuxi Calligraphy Art College, the China Hard-Pen Correspondence Center, and other institutions. He has formerly been a member of the Wuxi Calligraphy Research Society, the China Calligraphy and Painting Enthusiasts Association, the Ethnic Calligraphy and Painting Research Society, and a specially appointed tutor at the Huaihai School of Calligraphy Art. He has mentored numerous students. His works have been selected and included in publications such as *The Collection of Contemporary Chinese Master Calligraphy*, *Exhibition of International Calligraphic Masterpieces of the 20th Century*, and *Comprehensive Directory of World Calligraphers, Painters, and Seal Carvers*. His works have been permanently collected by the *Committee for the Selection of Calligraphy and Painting Works Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Mao Zedong’s Birth*! He embraces solitude, remains indifferent to fame and fortune, follows the righteous path, works diligently, earnestly pursues scholarship, sifts gold from sand, masters deeply before broadening widely, and learns from multiple masters. He emphasizes inheritance while seeking innovation—synthesizing diverse beauties to create a new style, expressing his true self!
