Yang Lixian, male, born in December 1984, from Jinnan District, Tianjin, is currently a member of the Gu Fan Institute of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting of the Tianjin Couplets Society, a member of the Jinnan District Calligraphers Association, a member of the Chinese Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association, a scholar of the Dagong Institute of Painting and Calligraphy in Pingyang, Zhejiang, a registered calligraphy instructor of the Chinese Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association, and a guest calligraphy instructor at Tianjin Marine Transportation Vocational College. Since childhood, he has been fond of traditional Chinese cultural arts such as calligraphy and Chinese painting. He initially studied Han clerical script through the steles of "Cao Quan," "Zhang Qian," and "Kong Zhou," later progressed to Ouyang Xun's regular script through the "Jiucheng Palace" stele, and currently focuses on small regular script from the "Luo Shen Fu Thirteen Rows," running script from the "Collection of Wang Xizhi's Sacred Teaching Order," Northern Wei stele "Zhang Menglong," and small seal script from the "Yishan Stele." He practices diligently without interruption, never putting down his brush or the model copy, and has been copying for years. In Chinese painting, he studied under Teacher Li Baochun, a direct disciple of Zhang Ziming, a successor of Qi Baishi, and has been learning freehand brushwork flower-and-bird painting for over ten years, diligently and earnestly, with particular expertise in orchids and bamboo.
 
Awards and Honors: In 2010, his brush calligraphy work won second prize in the "Looking Back: Ten Years of Xinhua People Viewing China" Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Competition held by Tianjin Xinhua Life Insurance Co., Ltd. to commemorate its 10th anniversary. In 2013, his freehand ink painting of orchids won second prize in the "2012 Jinnan District Rule-of-Law Cultural Works Collection Activity" hosted by the Jinnan District Judicial Bureau. In 2014, his brush calligraphy and Chinese painting works both won second prize, and his hard-pen calligraphy work won third prize in the "Celebrating July 1st" Calligraphy and Painting Competition organized by the Jinnan Public Security Bureau; that same year, his calligraphy work was selected for exhibition in the "My Core Values, Emerging from Jinnan" Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition hosted by the Jinnan District Youth League Committee and was collected by the committee. In 2015, his brush calligraphy work won the Excellent Award in the Youth Group at the "Beautiful Jinnan, My Home" Youth Public Welfare Calligraphy and Painting Competition co-hosted by the Jinnan District Youth League Committee and the Jinnan District Charity Association. In 2016, his calligraphy work was exhibited in the "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Long March Victory: Four-Panel Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" hosted by the Jinnan District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and was included in the "Collection of Jinnan District Calligraphy and Painting Works." In 2017, he won the Gold Award for Organizational Guidance at the 9th International Children’s Calligraphy and Painting Competition hosted by the International Children’s Art Association. In 2018, he won the First Prize for Outstanding Mentor at the 8th Cross-Strait International Children’s Calligraphy and Painting Competition; that same year, his calligraphy work was exhibited in the "Stay True to Our Original Aspirations and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind" Police Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Collection Exhibition hosted by the Tianjin Public Security Bureau, and his Chinese painting work was selected for exhibition and won the Excellent Work Award; that year, he also won the Gold Award for Organizational Guidance at the 10th Xuncai Children’s Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition; in the "Promoting Constitutional Spirit and Building a Rule-of-Law Jinnan" Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, his calligraphy work was selected and won the Excellent Award, and was included in the "Collection of Rule-of-Law Calligraphy and Painting Works." In September 2019, his work "Golden Quotes from President Xi Jinping" was selected for exhibition in the "Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference" Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Jinnan District and was included in the "Collection of Jinnan District Calligraphy and Painting Works." In April 2020, his calligraphy work was selected for the invitation exhibition "Fighting the Epidemic: Ink and Brush Conveying Emotion" organized by the Tianjin Calligraphy Association Examination Center; in August of the same year, his calligraphy work was selected for the exhibition "United as One: Fighting the Epidemic — Staff Photography and Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" co-hosted by the Jinnan District General Trade Union and the Jinnan District Culture and Tourism Bureau. In January 2021, the Jinnan Branch of the Tianjin Public Security Bureau held the exhibition "Celebrating the First 'Chinese People’s Police Day,'" and his calligraphy and Chinese painting works were both selected for exhibition; in May of the same year, his calligraphy work was collected by the Family Values and Filial Piety Museum in Gaoting Mountain Thousand Peach Park, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and the poetic content was engraved on stone; in June of the same year, his calligraphy work was selected for exhibition and won the Excellent Award in the "Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China" Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition hosted by the Tianjin General Trade Union. Additionally, his calligraphy and painting works have been repeatedly featured in special editions of the Tianjin Daily Jinnan Times.
