He Jiaying was born in Tianjin in 1957; in 1977, he entered the Department of Painting at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts to study Chinese painting, and after graduating in 1980, he remained on the faculty. He has served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference for the 9th, 10th, and 11th terms; currently, he is Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association, doctoral supervisor at the China Academy of Art, Deputy President of the Contemporary Gongbi Painting Association, Director of the He Jiaying Gongbi Painting Research Institute at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Honorary President of Tianjin Academy of Painting, and Honorary Director of Tianjin Art Museum. He has received honors such as "Outstanding Middle-aged and Young Experts with Outstanding Contributions" from the State, "Artists with Both Moral Integrity and Artistic Excellence" from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, "Four Categories" Cultural and Artistic Talents from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and the Gold Award in the Painting Category at the "2012 Salon Exhibition" in the Louvre Museum in Paris in 2012.[1] He is skilled in contemporary Gongbi figure painting creation. Representative works include "Mountainous Area", "Nineteen Autumns", "The Women of Mizhi", "Sour Grapes", "Soul Linked to Ma Wei", "Autumn Meditation", "Dawn Dew Silk", "Rest of the Dance", "Yang Kaihui", etc.
