 Sun Rongchang, style name Yuqing, was born in 1944, is a native of Wuqing, Tianjin City. He has been passionately devoted to the arts of painting and calligraphy since childhood. He initially studied famous steles such as Liu Gongquan's Xuanmi Pagoda, Yan Zhenqing's Dubao Pagoda, Hua Shikui's Double Martyr's Stele, and later practiced Ouyang Xun's Jiu Cheng Palace Liqueur Spring Inscription. His paintings are especially good at portraits and ancient figures in monochrome. After decades of hard study and practice, he has drawn on the strengths of various styles, striving for elegant and vigorous calligraphy and lifelike portraits with smooth lines in monochrome. He has been interviewed by many media outlets and his works have been published in newspapers and magazines. He has participated in many competitions and has won awards. He is currently a member of Ciyun Painting and Calligraphy Academy, a member of Tianjin Jinbao Group, a member of the Tianjin Senior Painting and Calligraphy Research Association, a member of the Chinese National Painting and Calligraphy Artists Association, and a member and standing director of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Federation.
