Personal Profile
       Mr. Xu Zhongdi, born in 1965, is a native of Cixi City, Zhejiang Province. He studied oil painting at the Sanjiang Academy of Fine Arts in Heilongjiang. Currently, he is a National First-Class Artist of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, a renowned Chinese painter, a contemporary Chinese oil painter, a specially appointed painter at the Korea Modern Art Museum, a member of the Cixi City Artists Association of Zhejiang Province, and the Dean of Ningbo Aidi Li Art Academy. Mr. Xu Zhongdi has loved calligraphy and painting since childhood and diligently studied the art. In his youth, he primarily learned by copying masterpieces of renowned artists such as Lu Yanshao and Liu Haisu. He has devoted many years to the research and creation of oil paintings. His works are especially noted for landscape paintings, characterized by a rich, bright, solemn, and vigorous style. His creations are well-balanced in density and sparsity, simple yet expressive, grand and substantial, having developed a unique artistic style of his own. His oil painting series include “Wealth Flows with Water,” “High Mountains and Flowing Water,” “The Rising Sun in the East,” and “Splendid Mountains and Rivers.” Particularly outstanding are his landscape boundary paintings, which are innovative, profound in skill, majestic in momentum, and elegant in taste. His works have been exhibited and awarded multiple times both domestically and internationally, and many have been collected by friends, institutions, and organizations from home and abroad. In 2015, he was selected for the national commemorative stamp album marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the Anti-Fascist War. In 2016, his works were chosen for the “Outstanding People’s Artists” tribute to the National Two Sessions. In September 2016, he participated in the report on “Top 100 Most Market-Welcome Calligraphy and Painting Enterprises.” He was selected for the commemorative stamps titled “Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters Celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.” In December 2016, he participated in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Calligraphy and Painting Competition commemorating the 150th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth, where his work “Cranes Dancing over Divine Land” received an Honorable Mention. In December 2016, he published “Century Classics,” a joint collection of works with contemporary artists. In January 2017, he participated in a national exhibition at the Art Center of the National Academy of Painting in Beijing. In October 2017, he was selected as a Leading Master of Calligraphy and Painting for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and was appointed Deputy Director of the Council by the Huaxia RUSHANG Cultural Development and Exchange Center. In 2018, at the 18th Annual Summary and Commendation Conference of China Century Field Research and the CCTV TV Personality Awards Ceremony, Mr. Xu Zhongdi was honored as “China’s Most Distinctive Contemporary Calligrapher and Painter,” receiving certificates and awards issued by the Organizing Committee of China Century Field Research, Beijing CCTV, Starlight Film & TV Base, and the CCTV program “Wisdom China.”   In July 2018, during the large-scale online calligraphy and painting exhibition “Innovative China, Era Pioneers” celebrating the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up, he was comprehensively evaluated by the judging committee and awarded the Grand Prize, and conferred the honorary title of “Pioneer Artist of the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up.” In December 2018, during the large-scale online exhibition “Art Star: 2018 Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Annual Figures,” he was named “China’s Most Innovative Artist.”
       In April 2019, he was evaluated by the National Gift Art Review Committee and awarded the honorary title of “Chinese National Gift Artist,” and named “Key Recommended Artist for the 2019 National Two Sessions: Celebrating Prosperity through Calligraphy and Painting, Erecting Monuments through Art.”
