Zhao Zhiyuan, native of Zhuji, Zhejiang Province, is also known as Yue Ding. He is the author of Xishi Hometown Person, Meihua Stream Elder and Dampness and Poverty Study Master. He graduated from the Chinese Department of Hangzhou University (now Zhejiang University) in 1968 and has been engaged in journalism for a long time. He loves poetry and calligraphy. His calligraphy is famous for its cursive script, and he once received guidance from the late renowned painters and calligraphers Sha Menghai and Qian Juntao. He admires plain and simple poetry, pursues the style of Tang and Song dynasties, and advocates the use of ancient style rhymes and modern style rhymes together. He is currently a member of the Chinese Poetry Society, a member of the Zhejiang Calligraphy Education Research Association, a member of the Great Wall Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Academy, a specially appointed calligrapher of the Zhejiang Branch of the Chinese Writers Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Academy, a councilor of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Collection Research Institute, a member of the Lanting Calligraphy Society of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, and a member of the Hangzhou Urban Culture Research Association. In 2001, he founded the Zhejiang Jiangnan Tourism Calligraphy Academy and served as the executive vice president.
