    Chen Jianxin, born on August 18, 1959, is a native of Ruian City, Zhejiang Province. He graduated in 1987 from the Department of Agricultural Economics at Zhejiang Agricultural University (now Zhejiang University) and has since held leadership positions in government administrative departments. In 1996, he resigned to enter the private sector and has been engaged in real estate development ever since. During his university years, he became a formal disciple of the contemporary calligraphy master Mr. Ma Shixiao, receiving systematic training and studying the calligraphic works of renowned masters such as Liu Gongquan, Ouyang Xun, Yan Zhenqing, Wang Xizhi, Zhi Yong, and Mi Fu. In 1987, he won second prize in calligraphy and third prize in traditional Chinese painting at the Zhejiang Provincial University Students’ Calligraphy and Painting Competition. Although he did not pursue a professional career in art after graduation, his deep passion for calligraphy and the encouragement of his teacher Mr. Ma have sustained his dedication to the art over the past thirty years. He has devoted himself to calligraphy research and achieved modest success; he is currently an academician of the Renhe Calligraphy and Painting Academy in Beijing. His aspiration is to inherit tradition, promote China’s cultural essence, and ensure that the art of Chinese character calligraphy flourishes among the younger generation.
