 Yang Zichao, pen name: Xiao Han, styled Miaoyin Jushi. Born in 1968, ancestral home: Zhejiang Ningbo. Currently a professor of philosophy at Nanjing Audit University, renowned Chinese calligrapher and painter, council member of the China National Studies Research Institute, vice president of the Hong Kong Oriental Academy of Arts, member of the China Artists Association, and member of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association. Proficient in Zen-inspired art and fond of Buddhist studies, his works possess distinctive characteristics.Since childhood, Xiao Han inherited family traditions and developed a deep passion for calligraphy and painting. Through years of diligent study and exploration, he has cultivated a wild yet refreshing artistic style. His works are unique, with strong visual impact—his brushwork is relaxed, ink tones are moist and lustrous, and his painting style is broad and unrestrained, seamlessly integrating calligraphy and painting to offer viewers a fresh and elegant visual experience, making them ideal for home decoration. In recent years, he has continuously produced outstanding works, increasingly praised by artists and attracting collectors’ attention, with coverage by multiple media outlets. Several of his pieces have been collected by domestic and international friends. His work “Tranquility Leads to Far-reaching Vision” was sold for RMB 28,000 at the 2000 Singapore Autumn Auction.
