Li Zhanyan

Li Zhanyan, style name Suxian, was born in 1972. She graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2004. She has been personally taught by people such as Huo Chunyang, Jia Guangjian, and Han Wenlai, and she also studied landscape painting under Lü Yunuo. Her mother Liu Xiuzhi is also a female painter in Tianjin. Li Zhanyan was immersed in the atmosphere of painting from an early age. After she chose to focus on peony painting, she received guidance from Zhang Xiwu, who is known as "Peony Zhang". Li Zhanyan's peony paintings have captured the essence of Zhang Xiwu's style. The latter once inscribed for her: "Elegant and noble, beautiful yet not vulgar," and praised her for "using water well."
