Personal Profile

Zeng Zhangming, born in 1946, is a native of Santai County, Sichuan Province. He is a member of the China International Artists Association, a council member of the Capital Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a researcher at the Chinese Cultural Celebrities Hall Research Institute, a member of the Sichuan Provincial Hard-Brush Calligraphy Association, a member of the Sichuan Shushui Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and a member of the Mianyang City Calligraphers Association. Passionate about calligraphy since childhood, he studied under the influence of his father and apprenticed himself to renowned Sichuan artists Luo Ziping and Liu Zhongcai. During the 1960s and 1970s, he worked in propaganda within the military. After retirement, he devoted himself deeply to studying calligraphy and has participated multiple times in national, provincial, and municipal calligraphy exhibitions and evaluations. His calligraphy works have been featured on full pages in publications such as the "China Art Market News" and the "Dajiangnan Collection News," and published in periodicals including the "Sichuan Art Newspaper," "Mianyang Ink Traces," and "Qinquan Literary Monthly." In 2012, he won the bronze award in the Third China Senior Citizens' Cultural and Art Festival Calligraphy Competition; he received second prize in the nationwide "Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting, Photography—Expressing Sentiments" event hosted by the Central Organization Department's Bureau for Retired Cadres and the magazine "Late霞"; he also earned an excellence award in running script at the "Huaxia Star—China Calligraphy and Painting Talent Selection Activity," organized by the "China Calligraphy and Painting News" and Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and the Huaxia Celebrities Calligraphy and Painting Academy.On New Year's Day 2014, he was invited to the capital to attend the "Space Dream · Hanmo Feeling—Second Huaxia Star Nomination Exhibition" at the Beijing Space City, where he took commemorative photographs with Shenzhou-10 astronauts Nie Haisheng, Zhang Xiaoguang, and Wang Yaping. He was awarded the title of "Specially Appointed Calligrapher and Painter of the China Calligraphy and Painting News" by the newspaper’s editorial board.
