Gu Shaohua, born in May 1963, is from Ba County, Sichuan Province, known as the Master of Yanchi Studio. He graduated from the Advanced Calligraphy Professional Program of the China Calligraphers Association Training Center, the Chinese Department of Wuhan Education College, and the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University’s Chinese Painting Program. He is currently the Director of the Yanchi Calligraphy and Painting Society, a council member of the Hubei Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, a visiting professor and honorary president of the Taipei Palace Museum Calligraphy and Painting Academy, vice president of the China Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Publishing House, a calligraphy and painting mentor of the China Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, vice chairman of the China Calligraphy and Painting Society, vice president of the China National Artists Association, deputy dean of the China Lanting Calligraphy and Painting Academy, an expert member of the World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and one of the "Top 100 Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artists." His calligraphy and painting works embody "poetic sentiment and pictorial beauty, drawing inspiration from tradition without being bound by it," with distinctive characteristics in brushwork and color usage, and have received praise from masters such as Liu Dawei, Shen Peng, and Shi Guoliang.
