Personal Profile
Ni Jia, from Chengdu, is a renowned landscape painter, a member of the Painting and Calligraphy Special Committee of the China International Cultural Promotion Association, Sichuan Academy of Xu Beihong Art Research, and a specially invited artist of the Sichuan Bashu Academy of Chinese Painting.
She studied under Master Huang Chunyao and subsequently learned from numerous masters, absorbing nourishment from renowned predecessors. She has thoroughly researched every aspect of painting—water, brushwork, ink, color, and composition—gradually elevating her artistic skills and cultural cultivation.
She has long explored the characteristics of traditional and modern ink expression, persistently practicing plein-air sketching to draw inspiration from nature and enrich her techniques. She integrates the strengths of various traditional texture strokes into a unified personal artistic language, specializing in broken-brush texture methods. Her rocks are rendered with brushstrokes as sharp as knives—decisive, crisp, and naturally textured with exquisite detail. Her clouds and trees are lush and verdant, deeply elegant, with clouds drifting and mist swirling, graceful and lively. She excels particularly in painting water: rushing waves surge forward, silver splashes fly dynamically and movingly. Her brushwork alternates between weighty, fluid, and vigorous strokes; her ink tones range from deep to light, dry to wet, all adapted to the characteristics of the subject, forming a fresh, simple, and universally appealing artistic style.
