Gou Zhongyuan, pen name: Zhongyuan, art name: Jiameng Buyi. Member of the China Cultural Arts Promotion Federation, Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Mao-style Calligraphers Association, Council Member of the Sichuan Provincial Hard-Pen Calligraphers Association, Member of the Sichuan Provincial Couplets Society, Researcher at the Sichuan Xu Beihong and Zhang Daqian Art Research Institute, Member of the Chengdu Calligraphers Association, Member of the Guangyuan City Calligraphers Association, Council Member of the Guangyuan City Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association, Consultant of the Guangyuan City Youth and Children's Literature and Art Federation Calligraphy Special Committee, Vice Chairman of the Zhaohua District Calligraphers Association, and Host of the Zhi Lian Home of the Lizhou District Association of Non-Party Intellectuals. He has been invited to attend symposiums and calligraphy and painting exchange events at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the National Committee of the CPPCC Auditorium, the National Convention Center, and the Jingxi Hotel.
On April 12, 2014, he successfully held the first solo calligraphy exhibition after the establishment of the Guangyuan City Art Museum. In August 2014, he graduated from the 17th Session of the Regular Script Copying Class organized by the Sichuan Provincial Calligraphers Association.
In August 2015, he graduated from the 18th Session of the Running and Cursive Script Copying Class organized by the Sichuan Provincial Calligraphers Association.
In December 2018, he was appointed as an expert in calligraphy by the Guangyuan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Press Publication and the Guangyuan Municipal Cultural Experts Committee.
His works have been exhibited in the Ministry of Culture’s “Ode to the Motherland” Chinese Traditional Cultural Art Exhibition at the National Committee of the CPPCC Auditorium, the National “Strong Military Dream, Safeguarding the Chinese Dream” Celebration of the August 1st Army Day National Dual Support Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, the “Belt and Road” Grand Sichuan Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Thailand, the National Hundred Artists “Ink Charm, Zen Mind—Strait两岸 Buddhist Cultural Art Masterpieces Exhibition,” and the 3rd “Brilliant Stars” Sichuan Mass Culture Fine Arts, Calligraphy, and Photography Outstanding Works Exhibition, among others. Since 1994, his works have been included in the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles’ “Collection of Chinese Cultural and Artistic Talent,” the Ministry of Culture’s “Ode to the Motherland” Large-Scale Artistic Figures Historical Records, the Ministry of Culture’s “Guide to Collecting Contemporary Masterpieces of Calligraphy and Painting,” the Ministry of Education’s “Role Models of the Chinese Nation,” and more.
His works have been frequently published in Beijing’s “Classic Life,” Beijing’s “Contemporary Writing,” Sichuan’s “Science and Wealth,” Guangyuan’s “Decision and Practice,” Guangyuan’s “Jianmen Pass,” Zhaohua District’s “Zhaohua Literature and Art” magazine, and others. His small regular script works were presented by the Guangyuan Municipal Government and Municipal People’s Government in 2009 as official gifts to state departments and enterprises. His works have been collected by the Ministry of Culture, the Hu Yaobang Museum, and numerous domestic and international enterprises, institutions, and individuals, including those in the United States, Japan, and Singapore.
The Mingyue Studio of Calligraphy in the Zhaohua County Government, under the warm concern of the Zhaohua Ancient City Administration, was officially established in February 2016. The Guangyuan Hanwen Bookstore Gou Zhongyuan Calligraphy Studio was officially inaugurated in September 2018 with the generous support and care of Mr. Lai Hongbin. Cultivating character through calligraphy, fostering friendships through art—virtue alone makes good neighbors! We warmly welcome fellow calligraphers to visit and exchange artistic insights.
