 Personal Profile

Liu Yong, a distinguished student of the renowned painter Master Zeng Gang, is a National First-Class Artist, a Chinese realist painter, a member of the China Artists Association, a academician of the China Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, a council member of the Sichuan Artists Association, and a member of the Zeng School Color-Ink Landscape Academy. He graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Nanjing University of the Arts. Born in 1979 in Meishan City, Sichuan Province—the birthplace of the Three Su—Liu Yong developed a passion for painting and calligraphy from an early age. He initially studied under the renowned local calligrapher Master Liu Zhongli, meticulously copying classical landscape masterpieces, and has consistently engaged in plein-air sketching, traveling extensively throughout the mountains and rivers of Sichuan and Ba. His landscape paintings exhibit solid traditional brushwork and ink techniques, skillfully integrated with Western artistic methods, forming his unique style: rock textures are firm and resolute, compositions are grand and majestic, colors are brilliant and vibrant, brushwork is free and innovative, and his works are rich in vitality. With a solid foundation in traditional Chinese painting, combined with profound knowledge and application of Western color theory, he achieves a masterful fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, excelling particularly in color-ink landscape painting. His works have won numerous awards in national painting and calligraphy competitions and are highly cherished and collected by art enthusiasts both at home and abroad.
Liu Yong’s paintings feature bold and unrestrained brushwork, exaggerated forms, graceful and lively expressions, and delightful charm. His landscapes appear effortlessly relaxed and romantically free-spirited. Liu Yong’s creations radiate a majestic and commanding presence—towering peaks and solemn grandeur that clearly reflect the authentic legacy of Master Zeng Gang, one of China’s leading realist painters. Liu Yong’s artworks have been exhibited and awarded in numerous large-scale domestic and international exhibitions. His pieces are highly sought after by political and business leaders as well as international collectors. He is one of the most exceptional realist landscape painters of today’s art scene and has frequently participated in programs produced by CCTV and the World Press Conference.
