Personal Profile

Cai Tiejun, courtesy name Guowen, is a researcher at the China Buddhist Seal Art Research Center and director of the Tiejun Calligraphy and Painting Academy. He specializes in xiaoxing seals, studying under An Doming, a contemporary master of xiaoxing seals and a member of Xiling Seal Society, becoming An’s direct disciple, and is particularly skilled in Buddhist seal carving; he studies clerical script under the renowned military calligrapher Zhang Ji; he studies running and cursive script under Wang Guozhu, a master of the Lanting School; and he studies small regular script under Zhang Shouyue, chairman of the Suqian Calligraphy Association. In his spare time, he enjoys practicing the cartoons of Feng Zikai, excelling in poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving. In recent years, to rescue the traditional Chinese cultural art of calophyllum carving, Cai Tiejun has devoted himself to the creation and research of calophyllum xiaoxing seals. His works have gained widespread recognition both domestically and internationally and have become new favorites among collectors. His works and profiles have been featured in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms such as Shanxi Pictorial, Calligraphy News, China Art Artist, Hong Kong Commercial Daily, Jinzhong Daily, Shanxi Online News, and others, and have been the subject of special reports by multiple television stations. His calligraphy and seal carving works are collected by various social organizations, charitable institutions, temples, enterprises, international friends, and prominent public figures, including the Linji Zen Temple in Binzhou, Shandong; the Calligraphy News Press; the China National Association of Calligraphers and Painters; the CCTV Calligraphy and Painting Channel; the Guanyin Mountain Scenic Area in Guangdong; the Wan Yin Lou in Shandong; the Pusa Ding on Mount Wutai; the British Academy of Traditional Chinese Culture; the Foyin Creation Base at Kongwang Mountain in Lianyungang; and the Huazhenge Art Gallery in Shanghai.
