Li Shengming, also known as Cunye Shanren and Xuankong Yibian, was born in June 1972 in Ying County, Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province. He has loved calligraphy since childhood and has persistently and humbly studied and copied the steles and rubbings of renowned masters, achieving notable success under the guidance of many distinguished artists. He has consistently practiced calligraphy using the "suspended writing" technique—without using a desk or felt pad, he simply clips one end of the paper and hangs it loosely, holding the other end with his left hand while writing and applying ink directly onto the paper. His brush dances freely, ink flows gracefully, and his strokes are spontaneous and effortless. Whether at home or traveling, he readily writes on the spot; even large-scale inscriptions are routine for him. Those who witness his work are invariably amazed and applaud enthusiastically. He is diligent and hardworking, constantly reflecting on and studying the brush techniques of great masters, strengthening the spiritual essence of ink and brush through his unique methods. His lines flow naturally, gracefully undulating, dynamically varied, resembling a flying dragon—lively, ethereal, and distinctly expressive of his personal character. His works offer profound artistic appreciation, visual pleasure, and spiritual insight, earning consistent praise and acclaim from numerous calligraphers and painters, as well as widespread acquisition and collection by art enthusiasts. He diligently studies the brush techniques of renowned masters, strengthening the spirit of ink and brush through his distinctive methods, achieving fluid, natural, graceful, and dynamically varied lines that resemble a flying dragon—lively and ethereal—highlighting his personal temperament and offering viewers exceptional artistic taste, visual delight, and spiritual awakening.
