Yan Haimin, born in 1969 in Shanxi Xinning, is the Executive Chairman of the Chinese Qingfeng Calligraphy and Painting Association, a visiting professor at the National Defense University of the People’s Liberation Army, Vice President of the Great Wall General Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Vice Chairman of the China Calligraphy and Painting Association, Vice Chairman of the China National Calligraphy and Painting Federation, Vice President of the China Ethnic Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Cross-Strait Calligraphy and Art Association, a National First-Class Artist, and Secretary-General of the China Peony Association.
He specializes in painting horses, landscapes, flowers and birds, and figures. Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about painting and has persistently pursued the highest realm of Chinese art for over thirty years.
In 2015, Mr. Yan Haimin spent one year creating a 22-meter-long ink-wash Chinese painting scroll depicting the twelve zodiac animals. The work is vivid, lifelike, and brimming with spirit and energy, ranking as a top-tier zodiac artwork in contemporary Chinese art.
In 2016, Mr. Yan Haimin created a 12-meter-long scroll titled “Magnificent Peonies,” featuring 56 peonies that fully capture the elegance, nobility, purity, grace, and myriad postures of the flower. The 56 peonies symbolize the 56 ethnic groups uniting to realize the Chinese Dream, wishing the great motherland prosperity and flourishing, and people’s lives increasingly happy and fulfilling.
In March 2014, at the “Chinese Dream · Ode to Spring” exhibition commemorating the 22nd anniversary of Deng Xiaoping’s Southern Tour, co-hosted by the Chinese Dragon Culture Development Federation, the World Federation of Overseas Chinese (General Association), and the China General Calligraphy and Painting Academy in Guangzhou, two of his works, “Ten Thousand Colors and Fragrances” and “The Cowherd,” were displayed. He is deeply committed to charity. On June 22, 2014, during the public welfare activity “Writing Charity, Painting Love,” initiated by the Lin Clan Association and the China Shuangmu Charity Foundation, Mr. Yan donated two of his works, “Golden Rooster Crowing” and “Autumn Harvest,” at the brushwork session.
In April 2015, at the first “Spring Melody” Famous Artists Calligraphy and Painting Exchange Exhibition hosted by Zhejiang Yichengweiye Cultural and Art Development Co., Ltd. in Ningbo, Zhejiang, Mr. Yan exhibited 19 works, which were warmly embraced by calligraphy and painting enthusiasts and collectors, who competed to acquire them.
On September 12, 2015, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the exhibition “Remembering History, Creating the Future—Calligraphy and Painting Joint Exhibition of Republic Generals, Ministers, and Masters,” hosted by the Great Wall General Calligraphy and Painting Academy, was held at the Art Gallery of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in Beijing, where his ink paintings “National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance” and “Rivers and Mountains Are So Enchanting” were displayed.
On December 26, 2015, the Third China Integrity Culture Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, hosted by the China Behavior Law Society, the China Calligraphers Association, and the China Artists Association, was held at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing. Mr. Yan’s ink painting “Yellow River Hukou Waterfall” won the Outstanding Award.
His works, including “Divine Dragon with Eight Steeds,” “Three Heroes Competing Under the Sun,” “Five Tiger Generals,” “Brotherhood Oath,” “Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage,” “Great Fortune,” “Elegant Rhythm,” “Autumn Mood,” “Royal Demeanor,” “Fortune and Auspiciousness,” “Twelve Beauties of Jinling,” and “Rivers and Mountains So Enchanting,” have received high praise and admiration from domestic and international audiences, who eagerly collect them.
