Personal Profile

Gao Jianye, a native of Dingxiang, Shanxi Province, has long held positions in Shanxi’s industrial and mining enterprises, local governments, and provincial agencies. He was formerly a member of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, an advisor to the Shanxi Calligraphers Association, and vice chairman of the Shanxi Elderly Calligraphers and Painters Association; he is currently a senior advisor and director of the Expert Committee of the Shanxi Elderly Calligraphers and Painters Association. From an early age, Gao received family instruction and studied under numerous masters, diligently practicing calligraphy and achieving abundant results. Later, under the guidance of Chen Jusuo, a renowned master of Zhangcao script in China, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to the study of Zhangcao calligraphy. His works have been selected and exhibited multiple times at national and provincial exhibitions and have won numerous awards. In 1998, he held a personal calligraphy exhibition in Taiyuan and published several calligraphy works, including "Collection of Gao Jianye's Calligraphy," "The Hundred Family Surnames," and "Gao Jianye’s Zhangcao Thousand Character Text." In recent years, online media such as People's Daily Online, Phoenix News, and Enterprise Reporting Network have featured his calligraphy works in the "Exhibition of Works by Contemporary Chinese Masters of Painting and Calligraphy," accompanied by critiques from renowned experts; The Shanxi Daily and Taiyuan Daily have published articles titled "The Vigor of the Aged Steed Who Tills the Soil" and "Elevated Artistry and Noble Conduct: Gao Jianye," highlighting his creative journey and artistic style. The Shanxi Evening News and Shanxi News Network recently published an interview titled "Calligrapher Gao Jianye: Staying True to His Original Aspiration, Achieving Final Success." Since retirement, he has remained passionately dedicated, pursuing his art with utmost sincerity and precision, elevating his calligraphy to a new level.
