Personal Profile

Zhang Weiping, originally from Fanxi County, Shanxi Province, was born in Tonglu Shaha in 1968, and is known as Shengtao Zhai Zi. An enthusiast of religious painting. He graduated from Shanxi Datong Teachers College in 1988, studying under Jin Wei; in 1990, he entered Liang Yi’s studio to study painting; in 1992, he became a disciple of the monk painter Wei Feng to study religious murals; in 2011, he followed his mentor Niu Yusheng to Gansu Dunhuang to copy Dunhuang murals. He is currently a member of the Shanxi International Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, a member of the Shanxi Artists Association, and a council member of the Tongmei Artists Association.
