Liu Ping, also known as Liu Feng, Kuanfeng, Baifu, styled Langmo Shusheng! Current Positions: Shaanxi Provincial Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Art Vice President Standing Director, Shaanxi Board Calligraphy Creation and Research Center Standing Director, Shaanxi Qin Opera Art Research Association Honorary President, China Shaanxi Cadre Painting and Calligraphy Art Academy Deputy Director, China Painting and Calligraphy Art Professional Committee Liu Ping (Feng) was born in Gaoling County, Shaanxi Province. He began studying calligraphy from a young age under the guidance of calligraphers Master Wu Yile and Master Wu Zhiyu. He has meticulously copied model scripts of Ouyang Xun, Yan Zhenqing, and Liu Gongquan, among others. His running script draws strong inspiration from the styles of the Two Wangs. In the past four years, seven calligraphy and painting works—“Sun. Moon. Star Taiji Bagua Monkey Peach Longevity,” “Child Paying Homage to Guanyin,” “Damo Facing the Wall, Awakening Through the Lotus,” “Child Paying Homage to the Buddha,” “Chinese Dream,” “Only I Am Content,” and “Qiankun Teapot & Tea”—have been granted the “Copyright Registration Patent Certificate” by the Copyright Bureau of the People’s Republic of China. The China Painting and Calligraphy Art Professional Committee highly evaluated: “The beauty of these works is rare nationwide!” China Post has issued two limited-edition commemorative stamp sets: “Celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China” and “Welcome the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,” titled “Limited Edition Langmo Shusheng Liu Ping (Feng) Painting and Calligraphy Stamps.” A grand issuance ceremony was held on July 15, 2017, at the Beijing Library, open to the nation. The Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China and the China Painting and Calligraphy Art Professional Committee specially issued an “Appointment Certificate,” appointing Langmo Shusheng Liu Ping (Feng) as Deputy Director. Over the past decade, tens of thousands of his works have been collected by all sectors of society; numerous domestic media outlets have repeatedly reported on and published his Langmo Shusheng artworks. His calligraphy and paintings have been on long-term display at the Hong Kong Museum of Cultural Relics. Nearly twenty temples across China have permanently exhibited his patented works “Child Paying Homage to Guanyin” and “Child Paying Homage to the Buddha” in their Dharma Halls, playing a vital role in promoting orthodox Buddhist teachings and spreading compassion throughout society. Langmo Shusheng has broad interests. He is a disciple of Chen Jin’ao Tai Chi, personally accepted as an inner-door student by the master Li Shufa. During his tenure at the Shaanxi Provincial Academy of Painting and Calligraphy Art, he has persistently practiced calligraphy and painting, receiving frequent care and calligraphic guidance from the respected President Ang Ran and Master Wu Sannian, achieving remarkable leaps and substantial progress in his art. In the past four years, Langmo Shusheng Liu Ping (Feng) has donated over three hundred calligraphy works to provincial and municipal Qin Opera stages, martial arts associations, and charitable causes. Since dreams exist, one must endure hardships! Langmo Shusheng Liu Ping (Feng) will respond to President Xi Jinping’s call for the “Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation—the Chinese Dream!” by tirelessly striving in literary and artistic creation.
