Qin Style, Qin Melody, Qin People, Qin Artisans: Chinese (Weibei) Dough Modeling Dough modeling is a traditional color-sculpting art primarily made from flour—a highly artistic, purely handcrafted traditional craft documented as early as the Han Dynasty, over 2,400 years ago, and often referred to as a “living fossil” of Chinese folk art. It has since been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage for protection. The Weibei (Yang-style) dough modeling integrates the rustic, bold, and unrestrained characteristics of northern Chinese dough modeling with the delicate, refined, agile, and substantial qualities of southern Chinese dough modeling, gradually forming its own unique artistic style that showcases the profound traditional cultural heritage of the Sanqin and Weibei plains.
