Bai Xue, styled Mo Yi Xuan, is from Wugong County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, and currently resides in Beijing, where he has a studio. He is a member of the Shaanxi Provincial Association of Calligraphy for the Elderly, the Xianyang City Calligraphers Association, the Wugong County Calligraphers Association, and the Wugong County Calligraphy Association for Middle-Aged and Elderly. Passionate about calligraphy since childhood, he has continuously studied and developed his running script by drawing on the strengths of renowned masters such as Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Bo Dang, and Qi Gong, while also learning from Zhou Huijun’s running script. He has participated in numerous calligraphy exhibitions in Shaanxi Province, winning awards each time, and his works are widely appreciated in regions such as Gansu and Qinghai. "There will be a time to ride the wind and cleave the waves; I shall set my cloud-tipped sail across the sea"—this verse serves as his enduring inspiration in studying calligraphy. Regarding his understanding of calligraphy,in terms of brushwork,calligraphy, as a unique traditional art, manifests itself through the use of brushwork to form lines and shape characters. It is precisely through this materialized method that calligraphy achieves the effect of creating artistic conceptions and expressing emotions. In terms of structure,in a successful calligraphic work, brush techniques and character formation are primary—they constitute the foundation of calligraphic beauty. However, individual strokes alone cannot directly compose the overall beauty of calligraphy. In terms of composition,composition is an essential element and expressive means in calligraphic works. Together with brushwork and character structure, composition forms the three fundamental elements of calligraphic art. Mr. Bai has developed his own unique style, achieving a harmonious unity between the “form” and “spirit” in calligraphy.the unity of "form" and "spirit" in calligraphy.
