Li Jiliang, styled Yantian, known by his art name Weibin Jushi, is a distinguished contemporary calligrapher from Xi'an, Shaanxi. He currently serves as a member of the World Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee, a researcher in the Yu Youren Calligraphy Institute, and a council member of the Shaanxi Traditional Cultural Art Committee, as well as Vice President of the Qin Terra Cotta Ink & Brush Painting Academy. Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about calligraphy, extensively reading classical texts and cultivating broad knowledge and exceptional talent, forming a profound bond with this traditional art. He has received invaluable guidance from esteemed senior masters of the contemporary calligraphy world, notably Master Shen Peng, greatly advancing his artistic skills. He excels in regular, cursive, and seal scripts, with particular mastery in running and cursive scripts. He follows the classical models of Ouyang Xun and Wang Xizhi, while also absorbing the essence of Wei stele inscriptions and Han clerical script, integrating the finest elements of the Two Wangs into a unified style. For decades, he has persistently practiced at the inkstone, developing a unique personal style—his works are grand, free-spirited, fluid, and ethereal, exuding boundless vitality and profound artistic appeal. After viewing Mr. Li’s works, General Shen Wansheng of the China Calligraphers Association enthusiastically praised: “His characters reflect his character; though his hands appear simple, they innovate boldly.” Mr. Li’s calligraphy is highly cherished by the Chinese public; renowned film stars such as Chen Daoming, Zhang Jiayi, and Li Bin have all collected his works to admire in their private collections during leisure moments. Li Jiliang’s calligraphy has made an indelible contribution to the inheritance of Chinese culture. At the same time, he places great emphasis on charity and public welfare, earning him the title of “Master of Love.” His calligraphy, graceful as drifting phoenixes and wind-tossed clouds, symbolizes wealth and refined taste.
