Tao Jianjun, also known as Qin Yun Han Mo, was born in 1975 in Luonan County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. He graduated from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, having completed a specialized research program in landscape painting and studied at the Chinese Painting Department on “Research on Chinese Decorative Paintings Through the Ages.”
Since childhood, he has been passionate about calligraphy and painting, incorporating calligraphic techniques into his paintings, mastering ink and water, comprehending traditional principles, perceiving the rhythm of brush and ink, adhering to the philosophy that technique embodies the Dao, painting follows reason, emotion has form, and character has discipline. He employs the bone-method brushwork, pursuing simplicity, elegance, lightness, and fluidity in his creative approach. Learning from nature, reflecting inwardly to discover the source of inspiration, he places utmost importance on the beauty of nature, expressing his deep love and pursuit of landscape painting. He has been devoted since childhood to calligraphy, painting, paper-cutting, and straw craft art. He is a member of the Cangjie Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, currently serving as a professional painter and academician. He is also a member of the Shaanxi Landscape Painting Research Association and the Shangluo Chinese Painting Society. He specializes in landscape and figure painting, with profound mastery of brushwork and ink charm, producing works that are dynamic, grand, accessible yet refined, and have received widespread acclaim and encouragement. His brushwork is ethereal and transcendent while remaining rigorous, with vibrant energy, vigorous and heroic expression, profound artistic conception, and a strong contemporary spirit. His works have been exhibited and awarded at provincial, municipal, and county levels, and are collected and highly praised.
In 2001, his landscape painting “The Most Beautiful Qinling Is Shangluo” was selected for the Outstanding Award in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Shaanxi Artists Association.
In 2003, his landscape painting “Autumn Mountains with Auspicious Signs” won the First Prize in the Shangluo City Middle-aged and Young Artists’ Fine Art Competition.
In 2004, his ink painting “Fragrant Locust Flowers Fill the Magnificent Shang Mountain” won the Silver Award in the “Hanmo Shengshi Cup” National Calligraphy and Painting Competition.
In 2005, his ink painting “Fuchun Mountain Dwelling: Auspicious Fortune for a Thousand Autumns” won the Second Prize in the First Shangluo City Art Exhibition.
In 2008, his work “Purple Qi Comes from the East, Auspicious Fortune Unfolds; Clear Waters Flow Forever, Bringing Prosperity” won the First Prize in the Shangluo City “Entering the New Century” Middle-aged and Young Artists’ Fine Art Competition.
In 2012, his field sketch “Heavenly Bamboo Cloud Sea” was exhibited in the China Education Society’s Fine Arts Competition and won the Second Prize.
In 2015, his selected figure paintings included “Statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva,” “Yang Yuhuan Bathing in Huaqing Palace,” and “Zhong Kui’s Divine Might.” His landscape works “Autumn Leaves Turn Crimson Across Shangluo Mountains,” “Auspicious Snow Foretells a Bountiful Year,” “Joy in the Snow,” “Autumn Colors of Yunmeng,” “Autumn Melody of the Qinling,” “Deep Mountain Elegance: Autumn’s Richness, a Small Bridge Over Flowing Water with Homes,” and “The Clouds of Shang Mountain” won the Excellent Award in the Chinese Farmers’ Painting Competition.
In 2016, his figure painting “The Chinese Dream” won the First Prize in the Shangluo City “Love My China” Middle-aged and Young Artists’ Fine Art Exhibition.
