Personal Profile
Zhang Anmin, also known as Master of Huangtu Studio, Old Farmer of Mozhuang, and White-Haired Student, male, born in June 1948, from Zidian Village, Hanjia Town, Binzhou City, Communist Party member, National Senior Calligrapher, member of the Shaanxi Provincial Calligraphers Association, and Honorary President of the Binzhou Rongcheng Academy of Painting and Calligraphy.
Since childhood, I have been passionate about painting and calligraphy, utilizing all spare time to self-study these art forms. Initially, I used the earth as paper and noodle soup as ink, practicing calligraphy and painting day after day for decades without interruption. I began with regular, running, and cursive script, then progressed to seal and clerical scripts, dedicating the most effort to regular script. I have also explored painting, seal carving, wood carving, root art, gourd pyrography, and clay sculpture. My works have been collected by calligraphy enthusiasts across China and some foreign tourists; my gourd pyrography pieces have even been taken abroad as gifts.
As a septuagenarian suffering from multiple chronic illnesses, I have persisted in practicing art to nurture my health, cultivate my temperament, enhance my artistic cultivation, and enrich my later years. Over the years, I have steadfastly continued writing and studying calligraphy theory, diligently practicing calligraphy, constantly exploring and seeking breakthroughs on my artistic journey, achieving consistent progress.
Awards
In 2014, I was awarded the title of "Virtuous and Artistic Artist" by the Xianyang Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
In 2015, I won the Special Prize in the Calligraphy Category at the Integrity-themed Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition featuring participants from Binzhou and five surrounding counties;同年, I also received an award at the Third Guantian Economic Zone Senior Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Xianyang.
In 2016, my wood carvings, root art, and gourd pyrography were included in the book "Xianyang Folk Art"; a four-foot regular script scroll of the "Heart Sutra" was exhibited and sold at the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda Antiques Store in Xi'an; so far, I have published six volumes of postage stamp albums, and my artistic endeavors have been featured in special reports on Binzhou and Xianyang television stations and numerous national websites; multiple newspapers and magazines have continuously published and reported on my works.
In 2020, I won first prize in the Calligraphy Category at the Cultural Awards Evening hosted by the Binzhou Municipal Committee and Government; in September, I received the Gold Medal at the Ink Charm of China Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition.
