Chinese name: Kang Bibo      Place of birth: Xunyi County, Shaanxi Province Foreign name: kaboo      Date of birth: 1993-06-02 Nationality: China                 Occupation: Painter and Calligrapher Ethnicity: Han               Graduated from: Xi'an University of Engineering Kang Bibo, courtesy name: Dan Kang, art name: Shang Yu San Ren, male, Han ethnicity, born in June 1993 in Xunyi County, Shaanxi Province. Comrade Kang Bibo has devoted over fifteen years to the study of calligraphy art. His calligraphy is characterized by "vibrant brushwork, powerful strokes, rich ink saturation, and vigorous strength." Comrade Kang Bibo has published works including Dan Kang's calligraphy: "Chang Hen Ge" and "Lou Shi Ming"; running script works such as "Lanting Xu," "Sheng Jiao Xu," and "Qin Yuan Chun Xue," among others. In August 2015, four magazines including "Shenyang Artist" jointly edited and prominently released "Contemporary Chinese Youth Calligrapher Kang Bibo" along with the "Collection of Kang Bibo's Calligraphy Works." In 2010, he won first prize in a national art event; in 2014, he received the gold medal at the 9th National College Students' Painting and Calligraphy Competition; in 2016, he collaborated with the Sunflower charity organization to hold an爱心 charity sale of over 200 pieces of Dan Kang's calligraphy, donating all proceeds to Xi'an Autism School.        Comrade Kang Bibo chose the name "Dan Kang," meaning simplicity and ordinariness—a reflection of his life experiences, as he seeks only to preserve his inner peace, regardless of hardships or glittering distractions, dedicating himself to inheriting and promoting traditional culture. Mr. Kang began practicing calligraphy at age six and traditional painting at age eight. Due to his family's poverty during primary and secondary school, he assisted his grandmother with farm work during holidays besides attending school. It was not until he entered high school and lived on campus that he began systematic calligraphy training, fortunate enough to become a disciple of the renowned Xunyi calligrapher Master Bai Yu, diligently studying and practicing to inherit the traditional legacy. During university, Mr. Kang actively participated in various calligraphy and painting events, organizing joint activities with fellow students and teachers from other universities through the school’s calligraphy association.        In 2019, Mr. Kang endured one of the most painful periods of his life. According to Grandpa Liu from Changbai Mountain, Mr. Kang had an elderly friend who lived in seclusion on Changbai Mountain. After this friend passed away, Mr. Kang stayed alone for more than four months in his friend's former residence—without electricity, internet, water, or food—in a thatched cottage with a small vegetable garden. During this time, Mr. Kang created representative northern-style paintings such as "Eight Horses," "Red Sun," "River and Mountain," "Welcoming Pine," "Four Gentlemen of Flowers," and "Fragrance and Foulness." Drawing from his personal upbringing, Mr. Kang actively participated in the Sunflower Organization's calligraphy charity sales and Spring Festival couplet charity events. At the end of 2019, he was awarded the title of "China Charity Ambassador" by the China Public Welfare Promotion Association. In Mr. Kang, we not only witness the inheritance of painting and calligraphy art, cultural understanding, and awareness of artistic mission, but also the fundamental human truth that “at birth, human nature is good.” In 2018, he won the first prize in the 12th China Youth Calligraphy Competition. The renowned calligrapher Jia Changling composed the following children’s song:           Surname Kang, name Bo, Han from Xunyi,           Born after Children’s Day in ’93.           Firmly holding brush and ink, honing true skill,           Cleansing heart and tilling inkstone for twenty years.           Clearly penned just a few characters,           Exhibited, awarded, included in annals.           Dual member of calligraphy and painting associations,           Free from worldly affairs, light as wind.           Eight masterpieces offered to readers,           Fearful that future generations may discard them.           Participated in ten-thousand-person calligraphy event in Xunyi,           Grand launch held in Xi’an.           Inheriting tradition with bold passion,           Name recorded in newspapers, vast as heaven and earth.           March forward without looking back,           Only to climb higher, rivaling ancient sages.
