 Liu Defang, also known as "De Gen Zhai" (studio name) and "Xiumu Sanren" (pseudonym), is a member of the Henan Province Calligraphers Association; member of the National Famous Artists and Calligraphy Art Circle Federation; vice president of the Chinese Calligraphers Association; vice chairman of the Chinese Contemporary Poetry and Calligraphy Association; vice president of the Chinese Contemporary Poetry and Calligraphy Academy; special vice president of the China Artist Collection Association; founder of the Genbi Calligraphy. He is a signed artist with Shengde Academy of Arts, Yachang Art Network, etc.; invited calligrapher of the Canadian Culture Research Institute; guest professor appointed by the Henan Masters of Arts and Calligraphy Research Association and the Dahe Literature and Art Research Institute. Since childhood, he has been fond of calligraphy, initially studying Ouyang Xun and Yan Zhenqing, later focusing on Han Dynasty cliff inscriptions. He has repeatedly studied the Han Dynasty Baoxie Dao stone inscriptions, Stone Gate Ode, and Stone Gate Inscription, and is deeply interested in the exploration of Jin Nong's lacquer script, Genbi calligraphy, and ancient bird seal script. His calligraphy works possess a style that is ancient, grand, and unique.
  
        In recent years, his calligraphy works have been published or broadcasted by more than 60 national and provincial media outlets including the "Calligraphy Guide", "Henan Daily", "Zhengzhou Evening News", "China News Network", "CCTV Network", "China Calligraphy Network", "Xinhua News Agency", "Phoenix News", "China Xicang Network", Henan Provincial Television, and Zhengzhou Television. His works have won the first prize in the "Yinglian Cup" World Peace International Calligraphy and Painting Competition; the gold prize in the "Yanhuang Cup" International Calligraphy and Painting Competition; the gold prize in the International Calligraphy and Painting Competition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Qi Baishi's death; the Xizhi Art Award - the National Calligraphy and Painting Competition for the 1655th anniversary of the creation of "Lanting Xu" (The Orchid Pavilion Preface) art gold prize; the gold prize in the Harmony China Cup Invitation Exhibition of Master Calligraphy and Painting Works; his works were selected for the 4th CJB Jizhi International Calligraphy Competition in South Korea; received the bronze prize in the Sino-Japanese International Calligraphy Competition; was awarded the "World Cultural Celebrity Achievement Award" by the China International Fame Academy Evaluation Committee and the World Cultural Celebrity Achievement Golden Image Award Committee; was honored with titles such as "Top 100 Chinese Calligraphers", "Top 100 Lanting Calligraphers", "Top 100 Lifetime Artistic Achievement Awards of Contemporary China", and "Top 100 Meritorious Artists of China". His achievements and works are included in books such as "Dictionary of World Cultural Celebrities", "Collection of Masterpieces of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting", "Modern Calligraphy and Art Masterpieces", and "The Soul of Calligraphy and Painting". His calligraphy has been engraved in places like Luoyang Huaguo Mountain and Xi'an Huaxia Stele Forest.
