     Liu Xiyou, born in October 1949, is originally from Shanghai, a senior high school graduate of the "Old Three Classes" (the three classes of students who graduated from senior high schools in 1966, 1967, and 1968). He has been fond of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting since childhood. As a young person, he received guidance and care from Professor Liu Ruicheng of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Professor Wen Hui of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. He has shown remarkable artistic talent and cultivation. More than forty years ago during the Cultural Revolution, he performed solo performances on violin, erhu, and bamboo flute on stage (reaching levels six, seven, and eight respectively). For his calligraphy and painting works, including regular script, cursive script, clerical script, and ink landscape paintings, his cursive script and clerical script have won various awards domestically and have been collected in exhibitions in Osaka City and Kurashiki City, Japan.
