Personal Profile

Nie Daseng, from Qufu, is a seal carver born in 1963, with the art name Zi Yong and master of Jinshi Tang.
Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about seal carving and has studied it diligently, receiving instruction from renowned masters such as Zhou Hanting, Xu Yeling, Yan Jingxin, and Ding Hui. He became a disciple of his master Chen Jian, dedicating himself to the study of seal carving art, persisting for decades with unwavering commitment, seeking guidance from diverse sources, boldly exploring Qin and Han dynasty works, absorbing the spiritual essence of metal and stone, and diligently practicing Han seals while studying the seals of renowned artists including Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Wu Rangzhi, and Zhao Zhiqian. His seal carving exhibits a strong style reminiscent of Wu Rangzhi and Wu Changshuo—elegant, simple, fresh, and free from vulgarity. His works have been repeatedly selected and exhibited in national-level large-scale seal carving exhibitions, and have been frequently published in publications such as China Calligraphy and Painting Daily, Qufu Daily, and Anhui Workers’ Daily.
