Personal Profile
Cheng Guoqing, a council member of the Chinese Young Talented Calligraphers and Painters Association, a member of the Shandong Provincial Calligraphers Association, a member of the China Calligraphers Association, a National First-Class Calligrapher, a national gift artist, and a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. Born in 1956 in Jining, Shandong Province, he has practiced calligraphy diligently since childhood, specializing particularly in regular script (Kaishu) and deeply mastering the essence of Ouyang Xun's style. Over the years, his works have been widely praised by calligraphy enthusiasts, earning him recognition and fame. Devoting himself entirely to the study and practice of calligraphy as a lifelong career, he has continuously refined his craft for over eighteen years, gradually reaching an advanced level. He often studies running script, cursive script, clerical script, and seal script through regular script, eventually developing a unique personal style. His characters originated from the Ouyang style, later inheriting influences from Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan—his brushwork being both rigorous and powerfully robust, yet rich with fullness and grace, strongly reflecting the artistic flavor of the Tang Dynasty. Later, he studied under Master Yang Zaichun, one of the founding members of the China Calligraphers Association, a renowned calligraphy mentor, calligrapher, and scholar.
