Hou Zhipeng, male, born in 1984, also known as Bangquan Jushi, is from Licheng, Jinan. He has been practicing calligraphy for 30 years since childhood. His first teacher was Mr. Wang Hui, currently a member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association. He later continued his studies under Mr. Zhang Lichao and Mr. Jing Xianghai, a disciple of Mr. Ouyang Zhongshi and a council member of the China Calligraphers Association and the Shandong Calligraphers Association. He is a member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association, Jinan Calligraphers Association, China Artists Association, and the Shandong Agricultural Calligraphers Association, among others.
His calligraphy style originates from the Ouyang structure, draws inspiration from Qin and Han stone inscriptions, and absorbs nourishment from the steles and epitaphs of the Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern Dynasties. His style is simple, bold, adaptable, and full of charm. Since childhood, he has won more than 20 major awards in national and international calligraphy competitions.
He specializes in seal script and clerical script, and is particularly fond of the Slender Gold style.
In recent years, he has been repeatedly invited to exhibit his works at the Shandong Art Museum, the Provincial Library, and the Provincial Museum. His works have also been featured in the Shandong Workers’ Daily, Qilu Evening News, Hanmo Licheng, Calligraphy and Painting Qilu Journey, the Calligraphy and Painting Collection Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China, the magazine China Dream · Qilu, and the Shandong Youth Daily. He has participated continuously for many years in various series of events organized by the Shandong Calligraphers Association and the Jinan Artists Association.
